DO change money at a reputable money exchange, use your own or the hotel’s calculator before changing.

DO put on loads of high SPF waterproof sun lotion. Re-apply after swimming or sweating

DO drink a lot of bottled water and eat a lot of fresh fruit – do your body a favor.

DO be careful with your belongings at all times. Crime is on the increase and can ruin your holiday. Cases of handbag snatching have been reported, so leave important documents in your hotel safe, carry photo copies, and wear your bag a cross your shoulders in front of your chest.

DO respect the slow pace of processions when stuck behind one, i.e. .don’t honk!

DO bargain when buying except on price-tagged goods.

DO buy ‘Imodium’ to relieve bouts of “Bali belly”.

DO relax enjoy and match the pace of the locals. Don’t expect western style behavior from eastern people. Have a great holiday!

DON’T …….

Don’t forget to take your passport or a photocopy of your ID.

Don’t swim outside designated swimming areas on the beach, currents can be very strong. Stay between the red and yellow flags. If you are uncertain ask the staff at your hotel or one of the local beach boys who know these waters quite well and have the courtesy that the Balinese are so well known for.

Don’t ever under any circumstances do drugs! It can carry the death penalty, and there are enough foreigners residing in Bali courtesy of the Goverment prison service!

Don’t touch people’s heads-it is very offensive to Hindus.

Don’t enter a temple during menstruation. Sorry Ladies!

Don’t forget to put salt on your food & drink plenty of bottled water – you will sweat and lose body fluid to the heat. You must rehydrate.

Don’t forget to rest in the shade until you get used to the tropical climate. Should you feel dizzy or light headed, stop, sit, get out of the sun and relax. Your guide and other people with you will appreciate the break.

Don’t worry too much about the ice – its government quality controlled in established bars and restaurants.

Don’t forget too look and listen while you cross the road. Cars may stop, motorbikes won’t. Don’t forget that the Bali traffic is on the LEFT SIDE so when you go to cross a street, look to your RIGHT first!
